Tell us a little about yourself
I’m a Marketing & Communications Professional/Freelance Graphic Designer. I’m made in Hong Kong, but raised in Canada and have been a Canadian Citizen for a VERY long time and counting:) I love to travel and learn about the history, culture, people of different countries and enjoy their local cuisine. I especially love countries that are hot and beachy! While at home, as I sip on my daily cup of java, I’ll enjoy tending to my many exotic plants and patio garden with my very adorable Iii pup, Pekoe.
Why did you join this program?
I was interested in sharing my skills in digital marketing while also continuing to learn more about this field too. I think digital marketing is a very important and impactful tool in this day and age and becoming more knowledgeable in it will be helpful in a personal and professional capacity.
What have you learned from this experience?
I learned that NYCH has very innovative programs like Creative Spaces for Newcomers, that are very supportive and customized to diverse audiences. Leveraging knowledge and insight directly from the communities the programs and services can really help the targeted communities better address their needs and overcome obstacles.
What’s next?
More digital/print design opportunities to create marketing/promotional material and assets for NYCH in hopes to also showcase my graphic design skills and promote awareness that I’m a freelance graphic designer for hire and have a pink pekoe design shop on Etsy (etsy.com/ca/shop/PinkPekoe) offering one of a kind artwork.
