NYCH\u2019s core values are the principles that guide our internal and external actions and drive our accountability to each other and our stakeholders. We are inspired by these values, and we aspire to fully live these values. NYCH strives to continuously improve by getting feedback to ensure our services meet the needs of the communities that we serve.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Accountability<\/strong>
    \nWe are transparent and hold ourselves responsible in our actions, decisions, and communications with those we work with as well as those we serve.<\/li>\n
  2. Quality of Life<\/strong>
    \nWe enable those we serve to address basic needs, build strong communities and work together to address social justice issues.<\/li>\n
  3. Anti-Racism, Anti-Black Racism and Anti-Oppression<\/strong>
    \nWe are committed to understanding the histories of systemic racism and discrimination that result in inequality for, and oppression of people who identify as Black, Indigenous and others who experience different\/multiple forms of oppression. We are working towards removing systemic barriers to resources and opportunities, and to achieving equity for our staff and community.<\/li>\n
  4. Reconcilliation<\/strong>
    \nWe recognize the history of oppression of Indigenous peoples across treaty lands on which we live and work. We acknowledge the need for healing and justice in Indigenous communities. Reconciliation is a crucial process, and we are committed to building and maintaining respectful and collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities.<\/li>\n

    \nWe work to engage and empower community members to address shared concerns.<\/li>\n
  6. Partnership<\/strong>
    \nWe collaborate with community members and organizations to meet mutual goals and develop coordinated, integrated responses to bring about social change.<\/li>\n

    \nWe highlight successes, challenges and learning as a team, focussing on \u201cwe\u201d instead of \u201cI\u201d.<\/li>\n
  8. Learning and Innovation<\/strong>
    \nWe are committed to learning from and with others, building on our strengths, learning from our mistakes, and exploring new and innovative ways to do our work.<\/li>\n
  9. Global Citizenship<\/strong>
    \nWe take an active role in the communities we serve and work with others to make our planet more peaceful, fair and sustainable. We celebrate and learn from the rich cultures and histories of our staff and community.<\/li>\n
  10. Focus on Balance and Self-Care<\/strong>
    \nWe recognize the need for balance between hard work, learning, and self-care, and strive to create a safe, healthy, and respectful environment. We take time to celebrate and enjoy our successes together<\/li>\n
