{"id":502,"date":"2023-03-06T21:04:09","date_gmt":"2023-03-06T21:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/172.105.28.161\/cms\/?page_id=502"},"modified":"2023-03-06T21:04:09","modified_gmt":"2023-03-06T21:04:09","slug":"land-acknowledgement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/nych.ca\/cms\/land-acknowledgement\/","title":{"rendered":"Land Acknowledgement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"S1PPyQ\">We at North York Community House acknowledge that the land on which we are gathered is the traditional territory of many First Nations including the Haudenosaunee of the Six Nations Confederacy, the Huron, Erie, Wendat, Anishnaabeg, and the Mississaugas of the Credit whose long-standing history have helped shape the world we live in now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"S1PPyQ\">In the spirit of reconciliation, we honour Indigenous histories, worldviews, and cultures, and acknowledge the enduring presence of First Nations, the M\u00e9tis Nation, and the Inuit Peoples.<\/span><span class=\"S1PPyQ\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><strong><span class=\"S1PPyQ\">Why are we doing the land acknowledgement?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"S1PPyQ\">This is our way, at NYCH, of respecting and honouring the traditional caretakers of the land we are on. We recognize the importance of bringing awareness of Indigenous histories to our staff and community members, in order to begin a journey to learn more about the truth and realities of Indigenous experiences in Canada, past and present.
