Volunteer Role: LEAP After School Program Facilitator
Support the LEAP (Learn, Engage, Aspire, Peer Leadership) after-school program in providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for middle-year children (9-13 years).

Need to Know
Type of Position: In-person
Location: Woodview Park Library. 16 Bradstock Road, North York, ON M9M 1M8
Language Required: English (Intermediate level or higher)
Time Commitment: Program runs twice a week September through March. Volunteers should be available to assist in-person at least one day per week, consistently for at least a 3 months commitment.
Training and Supervision: Reports to the “Get Moving!” After-School Program Coordinator
Responsibilities
In this role, you will
- Provide a warm, welcoming, inclusive environment
- Work with children ages 9-13 in-person, alongside a Lead Facilitator, to lead and support the facilitation of activities
- Work alongside Lead Facilitator in supervising children
- Support Lead Facilitator in explaining activities including demonstrating movements during physical activities
- Assist with supervision of children during program times, including dismissal, taking attendance, answering questions during activities, etc.
- Encourage, motivate, and build student’s confidence

- Ability to commute to in-person location where program is offered; standing for 2 hours
- Ability to work in a team environment

Training and Evaluation
Training for this role includes an orientation from the program’s staff.
A volunteer is considered successful when there is an increase in the student’s confidence, self-esteem, and ability to complete tasks in the home independently. Evaluation forms are administered bi-yearly.
