Asvini Uthayakumaran

Asvini Uthayakumaran is a policy researcher specializing in child care expansion. In her current role at Building Blocks for Child Care (B2C2), she researches key barriers to child care expansion in Ontario. She is a former writer for the Tamil Guardian, where she covered community issues, conducted interviews, and advocated for justice and accountability for survivor communities in Sri Lanka. In addition, Asvini serves as co-chair on the awards committee for Defence for Children International Canada, monitoring projects and supporting public outreach. Asvini is also actively involved in the migrant justice movement, currently she volunteers as a member of Churches Witnessing with Migrants and International Migrants Alliance Canada. Guided by a strong commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression, she brings experience in policy, communications, and community engagement to her work and service.
