Celebrating Nina Jane Mayol‑Salapang — Entrepreneurship Excellence Award Recipient

What began as a small home‑based venture has grown into Chorizo de Cebu Toronto, now a trusted supplier to local eateries across the city.

Nina Jane Mayol‑Salapang’s entrepreneurial journey is a powerful story of passion, culture, and perseverance coming together to build something meaningful.

A graduate of the University of San Jose Recoletos in Cebu City with a degree in Business Management, Nina carried with her a deep connection to her roots and a desire to share the authentic flavours of home. Inspired by her brother — founder of Chorizo De Cebu–Texas — she set out to bring the beloved taste of Cebuano chorizo to Canada.

What began as a small home‑based venture has grown into Chorizo de Cebu Toronto, now a trusted supplier to local eateries across the city. But Nina’s work is more than a food business. It is a cultural bridge — a way of bringing comfort, tradition, and community to Filipino families in Canada while supporting local restaurants and food entrepreneurs.

Her mission is rooted in sharing authentic flavours and establishing her brand as the standard for high‑quality, affordable, locally made chorizo. Every step of her journey reflects her dedication to excellence and her commitment to supporting her community.

This year, Nina’s hard work and entrepreneurial spirit were recognized at the Tanyag na Pinay Gala, where she received the prestigious Entrepreneurship Excellence Award. This honour celebrates Filipina leaders who are making meaningful contributions in their fields — and Nina’s impact is undeniable.

NYCH is proud to have been part of Nina’s early journey through our Self‑Employment and Entrepreneurship Program for Immigrant Women. Her success is a true reflection of her vision and determination, and we are grateful to have provided guidance and support as she laid the foundation for her business.

Seeing her growth and accomplishments is a testament to what determination, community, and the right support can achieve.

Congratulations, Nina — your story continues to inspire.
