Join the NYCH Board of Directors

We are seeking community members who have been involved in our services or programs to join our Board of Directors. We are also looking for community members with experience in finance, fundraising, or advocacy to join one of our Board committees in those areas. 

Who we are: 

North York Community House (NYCH) is a dynamic community agency that has been working with residents of under-resourced and low-income neighbourhoods in northwest Toronto for over 35 years. We are committed to helping people move out of poverty in order to build strong, vibrant communities. We support new Canadians, children, youth and their families, seniors, and local residents in becoming active and engaged citizens who are able to thrive and become leaders in their own lives and communities.

At NYCH, we pride ourselves on working collaboratively and creating a supportive environment. Our team demonstrates incredible adaptability, strength, creativity, and dedication in serving our communities, and we continue to learn and grow, and innovate while dealing with changes and challenges that face us all.

Who we are seeking: 

This is an exciting time for the NYCH Board as the organization continues to grow and develop innovative ways of supporting our community. We wish to include more of the skills, experience, and voices of community members we’ve worked with over the years on our Board of Directors and Board committees to help guide this work.

We are looking for people who are passionate about the work we do at NYCH and want to create positive change in our community. If you have previously participated in programs or services at NYCH, and wholeheartedly support NYCH’s values this might be the right opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Commit to and help carry out the vision and mission of the organization;
• Promote the goals, programs and services and be an active ambassador of NYCH;
• Actively participate in monthly board/committee meetings;
• Maintain active participation in the affairs of the organization including: membership in at least one standing committee or working group, attending the Annual General Meeting, and supporting fundraising and other organizational initiatives;
• Contribute to the respectful and collaborative culture of the Board and organization.
