Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Mike Postoff
Meet Mike, a dedicated NYCH volunteer whose passion for supporting newcomers has made a lasting impact in our community.

Tell us a little about yourself, and what you enjoy outside of volunteering?
I like dining out with friends, and keeping up with the latest news of the world. I enjoy listening to classical music and spending time with my wife and friends.
Why did you decide to volunteer with North York Community House?
I attended an event that featured organizations that need volunteers, and I liked what North York Community House focused on. Their focus on helping newcomers was important to me.
What has been the most meaningful part of your volunteer experience?
The feeling I get when I’m able to make a difference, and how volunteering helps me grow as a person.
What’s something new you’ve learned while volunteering here at NYCH?
By helping others, I was helping myself.
What’s next for you, and do you see yourself continuing to volunteer in the future?
I continue to volunteer in my condo building where I live, alongside keeping in contact with the good friends I have made because of NYCH!
Is there any work or projects that you’re currently working on that you’d like us to promote?
As I mentioned, I’m involved with my Condo Building helping some residents Age in Place. I would like to mention the organization that facilitates this, they’re called Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORC).
